Walnut

The heartwood can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Color can sometimes have a grey, purple, or reddish cast.  The wood is usually easy to work with when the grain is straight and regular.  Although walnut is rarely stained with anything other than a clear coat it does finish and stain well.
